Another fellow Symbian themer out there providing Symbian lovers with free/paid themes is Dhanusaud. Today I’ve picked the Contra 3.0 theme for review. It’ a full SVG theme meaning it’ll fit your screen no matter what, and it features a new digital/analog clock and a nicely integrated background. Besides the green color, blue is a favorite. And this theme right here ticks the correct boxes.
The dark blue color makes the N97 feel like it is submerged deep underwater. The highlights are in silver which works great with the blue color, while the homescreen widgets on the N97 have slightly transparent light blue backgrounds. All in all, the whole thing looks fabulous. Note that the Contra 3.0 is an upgrade from Contra 2.0 where many bugs have been fixed and some tweaks/additions have been made.
The theme is one of the best blue themes I’ve ever seen on the S60 5th edition platform. Dhanusaud also added an Eseries version that’s compatible with handsets belonging to the series. There’s a special icon set that comes with the main version and the installation size of that theme is around 5.5MB, while the lighter version that comes with the DI (default icons) takes up a mere 650KB. We’ve all been struggling with the N97’s internal memory (C: memory) and uninstalling apps like hell, and since I hate installing the themes to the mass storage memory – the handset switches to the default blue theme every time you use your device in storage mode, now you can rest assured that installing this theme onto the main memory will not take up much space.
Note that this is one of Dhanusaud’s premium themes, meaning it’s not free. A small donation would suffice and you would get your theme by email once the transaction via PayPal is completed. Premium themes are usually a source of income for maintaining the blog, hosting fees, buying icon sets, and developing more free/paid themes.
I’ll leave you with the screenshots.
