It’s been a heck of a ride on the Nokia bus since late 90s and up to this very last minute. The “Matrix Phone”, the Communicator, the internal antenna, the VGA cameras, 2-megapixel, GPS, Carl Zeiss, and the list goes on… I’ve probably used a couple of phones that were out on the market before my first 3210 but it was then that I realized this is a world I needed to explore. Thoroughly, that is.
Today, I work for Nokia. I guess I can say “mission accomplished”. But it doesn’t end here; on the contrary, this is where it stars getting interesting. You see, on the outside it’s about speculation, anticipation, testing out devices, tricking them out with all kinds of themes and apps and cool stuff, showing them off to your peeps, and tweaking their phones so they look something similar to your little monster. On the inside, it’s all about making things better, studying the market needs, testing devices to improve their performance, listening to enthusiasts and learning what they’d like to see in a device, getting all the apps you can find to check for compatibility issues, and most importantly living with devices that are yet to be revealed to the public eye, making sure you don’t forget them in a bar ;)
To cut it short and get to the point, I’ve got love for Nokia. Too much love. And today, I’m eager to ask you a question which I always ask myself without getting the right answer.
The question to which I’d hope you reply with the least words possible is:
What is the best Nokia phone of all-time and why?
So, in your own words and below in the comments section, please share your thoughts with everyone. BUT… make it concise, because I know too well that we can keep talking about a phone’s features for hours when maybe one or two features of it make all the difference.
To give you an example, check out the below:
- - I’d say it’s the E71; it was and still is the classiest business phone Nokia has ever designed. Robust, fast, and it did it all for me.
- - N95, no competition there. It was the only phone that did so much in such a small design 3 years ago.
- - N900 because it’s simply a micro-computer.
Now I’m sure you can come up with a better explanation each time, I’m just trying to give you some guidance. It’ll make it easier for me to filter the answers and understand your thoughts.
To me it’s not just one phone. Each phone had an era and not the other way around. E71 was amazing for certain people while the N95 could do it all but without the QWERTY keyboard. So which one is better? I can’t say. Each one had fans, devoted users. This is where you guys come in. You are here to tell me which phone you think is the best and why. The N86 might be your favorite but it’s probably not the best, right? Maybe the N82 was the best. Maybe the N79 (I love that phone). Maybe the E71 was…or the E90. Maybe it’s the N8. It’s up to you to tell me what that phone was, while trying to be as objective as you can. If you’re in love with a pink 5530, it doesn’t make it the best phone ever, does it now? ;)
If you're asking yourself why I'm doing this, it's simply because I'm a blogger, I watch and "listen" to my Twitter timeline most of the day, and I love to interact with my readers. Call it analysis or call it Josh; I just like to hear what you have to say about this.
So, are you ready?! Go ahead, tell me, what is the best Nokia phone of all-time and why?
For me its like this:
ReplyDeleteNokia 6510 - I still think that it was one of the best phones I've ever held but i really don't know why.
E72 - Best 5 Mpix / Business phone. As you said it is classy, robust, fast, and it did it all for me. I was impressed by the video quality even at night.
The N95 really changed the game. When it was out, everybody wanted one. Like you said, it could do everything and it was a pioneer ahead of others.
ReplyDeleteHi! I love my Nokia E72 but to me, the best Nokia of all time was E71. 2 reasons I would choose it over my beloved N82 and E72. E71 did not suffer from the RAM issues of E72. The keys were slightly better. The camera was nothing to talk about but was Great for occasional shots. And best of all, it provided Everything at a very very affordable price.
ReplyDeleteN95!!! 5 Mpix. Music feels great. It just does it all!!!
ReplyDelete(N8 is next ;) )
For me the best Nokia was the 9500 communicator and i wish they didnt stop the S80. Nokia should have updated the S80 and not put S60 on the new E90 :( now Nokia 2011 is coming so work on the best communicator with MEEGO :)

ReplyDeleteFirst, It was the Nokia 3315 which was the most popular mass phone of that era in India about 7-8 years ago. It was my first phone and I loved it, then came my second phone, Nokia 2300, the first black and white Nokia with fm radio and polyphonic ringtones. I loved the moonlight effect. Then came another phone loved by the masses, the Nokia 6600, the thick robust phone with most of the features available that time. It was cool at that time. Well, I bought this phone in Nov 2007 after which I heard that it was stopped. It was a very robust phone. Then I moved out from the nokia range to use a phone from a different brand, which was a very delicate phone and due to some issues I had to come back to my 6600. Then I upgraded to Nokia N79 which is still a very good phone containing all the necessary features you'd need in a smartphone with an amazing 5mp carl zeiss cam with dual led flash. I loved the phone and the fact that you had all those features and were getting it at Rs.14k. Killer phone it was. And now two weeks back, I upgraded to the newest beast in the market, N8. I'm liking it so far.
ReplyDeleteNow, you asked for the best Nokia phone according to me and I told you about all my phones. I did so 'coz I found all my nokias to be the best in the market for me in their respective classes which I'm saying after a lot of pre-order research that I do before buying something.
N95 + E71 !!
ReplyDeleteNokia 6230i The best absolutley... yes old but gold, I charge it once a week never let me down call clarity excellent, music sounds loud and clear... having say that... it's now time to upgrade it... after 5 years! So I'm thinking to buy a N8... suggestions? would this be the right phone for me? would it last 5 years? can someone out there who owns the N8 tell me the pros and cons... very much appreciated ciao
ReplyDeleteE72, I accidently posted this on the home page the first time: The best Nokia phone has to be the E72, fairly affordable, not better than the high end touchscreen phones on the market today, but in my opinion better than any touch screen phone made by Nokia. E71 was the best phone I ever used, business wise and for normal use. It needed a few improvements and I don't think it gets much better than the E72.
ReplyDeleteE71. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteI love my E71, in these app crazy days with every phone out there; this phone has more than enough to meet my needs. I feel people are forgetting this is a phone 1st and foremost. I get a bit a laugh at times when people can’t make a call because of weak single or no single, not a problem for my E71…LOL. I just hope Nokia’s new venture with Microsoft doesn’t take away from what I feel is the best phone out there, when I have to purchase a new one. With the quality of this phone, that should be years away.
ReplyDeleteNokia keep the quality up.
Bye Bye Symbian
ReplyDeleteFor me its has to be Nokia 1100, what a battery life it had.... i really miss it...
ReplyDeleteN900 beats all cell phone not only in nokia but in other companies as well.
ReplyDeleteheyy i wanna know the price of the n8 pink in lebanon ?
